13 Going On 30 is set for the Netflix reboot treatment starring Logan Lerman (Hunters) and Emily Bader (My Lady Jane).
Per Deadline’s report the 2004 Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo body-swap comedy will be remade by director Brett Haley, who helmed the streamers hit rom-com People We Meet On Vacation. That film spent 4 weeks in the Global Top 10 Movies this year, and starred Emily Bader, who will take on the time-jump role made famous by Garner, who is on-board as an Executive Producer.
It’s unclear whether this will be a straight remake of 13 Going on 30 as plot details are currently being kept a secret, but Haley will direct from a script by Hannah Marks (Mark, Mary, & Some Other People) with revisions by Flora Greeson (The Princess Diaries 3).
13 Going On 30 starred Jennifer Garner as Jenna Rink, a teenage girl who wakes up as a 30-year old woman, so must quickly discover how to navigate being a grown-up. It grossed $96 million at the worldwide box-office and has subsequently become a cherished re-watch for people of all ages.
Los Angeles: Emily Bader and Logan Lerman are set to feature in Netflix’s reboot of the 2004 comedy film ‘13 Going on 30’.
According to the entertainment news outlet ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, the film will be directed by Brett Haley and will have a script by Hannah Markswith with revisions by Flora Greeson. The plot details of the film are kept under wraps.
The original film starred Jennifer Garner as Jenna Rink, alongside Mark Ruffalo. Directed by Gary Winick, the film revolved around Garner’s 13-year-old character, who makes an unusual wish, just to wake up the next morning as a 30-year-old.
Haley said ‘13 Going on 30’ is one of the rare and perfect films. “Funny, emotional, deeply human, with unforgettable performances from Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo and Judy Greer. I’m a longtime fan, so stepping into this reimagining comes with tremendous responsibility. Jennifer Garner being on board as an executive producer, after playing such a big part of what made the original special, is especially meaningful,” the director.
