Timi Frank Accuses Tinubu of Plan to Relocate Nigeria’s Capital to Lagos in His Second Term
A former APC chieftain, Timi Frank, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of pursuing a plan to relocate Nigeria’s federal capital from Abuja to Lagos.
Frank alleged that recent actions by the administration, including the movement of some federal agencies and institutions to Lagos, point to what he described as a deliberate and coordinated agenda to shift the seat of power away from Abuja.
According to him, such a move would concentrate political and economic influence in Lagos, raising concerns about national balance and fairness.
The Presidency, however, has denied the allegation. Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said there is no plan to relocate the nation’s capital, describing the claim as baseless and politically motivated.
He explained that decisions involving the relocation of certain agencies are based on operational and economic considerations, not a plan to change Nigeria’s capital.
Abuja remains the constitutionally recognised capital of Nigeria, and there is no official policy or legislative move to alter its status.
