The couple, known for their appearance on MTV Splitsvilla X4, took to social media earlier this week to debunk claims of an “MMS leak,” labeling the circulating content as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public for clicks and financial gain.

The controversy began when a brief, suggestive clip featuring a shirtless Justin D’Cruz talking to Sakshi Shrivas began circulating on platforms like Instagram and Telegram. Malicious accounts surfaced the footage with sensationalist captions, encouraging users to “DM for the full link” to a private video.

However, fact-checks and a subsequent statement from the couple revealed that the footage was not a private leak. Instead, the clip was a snippet taken from one of their publicly available YouTube lifestyle vlogs. The original context, a casual conversation between the two, was edited and misrepresented to appear scandalous.

‘There Is No MMS’

Reacting to the rapid spread of the misinformation, the couple released a joint video statement on Instagram to set the record straight. Justin expressed his frustration with the ease with which such rumors gain traction compared to their regular creative content.

“Nowadays, I’m seeing posts on my feed about an ‘MMS leak,’ and people are constantly asking for links,” Justin stated in his video. “Firstly, it is nothing; it is fake. It is just a clip from one of our vlogs that someone has edited. People do this to get engagement and money, but there is absolutely nothing in those links.”

Sakshi Shrivas also urged their followers to stop sharing the misleading content, emphasising that there is no “full video” or hidden link. She highlighted the disappointing reality of how deceptive thumbnails and titles are used to exploit viewers’ curiosity.

This incident follows a string of similar controversies involving Indian influencers. Recently, gaming creator Payal Dhare (Payal Gaming) was also targeted by a similar hoax involving deepfake technology and mislabeled videos.

The recent controversies follow the viral “19-minute 34-second” video trend, which later mutated into a generalised “MMS” search trend. The viral “19-minute 34-second” term originally began with the alleged leaked private footage of a Bengali Instagram couple, Sofik SK and Sonali Dustu.

Exploiting this curiosity, bad actors began mislabeling the clip to target high-profile creators, most notably Payal Gaming and Meghalaya influencer Sweet Zannat.
