Two Dead in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Accident Involving Anthony Joshua
Details have emerged surrounding the tragic accident involving former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which has claimed the lives of two individuals.
Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, confirmed that the crash occurred along the Shagamu Interchange axis of the expressway. He stated that the state government promptly deployed an ambulance to the scene to attend to victims of the incident.
Images circulating from the crash site show Anthony Joshua without a shirt, standing amidst the wreckage shortly after the accident. The boxer appeared to have escaped serious harm and was seen surrounded by debris as well as a crowd of concerned onlookers.
Confirming the casualties, Oluseyi Babaseyi, spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, said that two people lost their lives in the accident. He added that Joshua sustained only minor injuries and is currently stable.
According to the police, further details surrounding the incident will be made public as investigations continue.
Preliminary reports indicate that the crash occurred after a Lexus SUV bearing the registration number KRD 850 HN ran into a stationary truck along the route.
The accident comes just nine days after Joshua knocked out Jake Paul in an exhibition heavyweight bout held at the Kaseya Centre in Miami, United States. Following the fight, the boxer had returned to Nigeria to spend the yuletide holiday before the unfortunate incident.
